Laboratory technician – Complix Gent

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Complix for a Laboratory technician to join a research team based in Zwijnaarde, Gent.

Job description

This Laboratory technician will join a team of scientists and will be involved in the production of Alphabody proteins and support in the day-to-day functioning of the lab. We offer a fulltime permanent contract, competitive salary package and benefits (meal vouchers and hospital insurance).

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, perform single experiments and small projects applying techniques following defined protocols
  • Record data in lab note books and defined templates
  • Preparing buffer and media
  • Managing manufacturing waste streams
  • Cleaning manufacturing equipment
  • Maintenance of general lab supplies

Qualifications and skills

  • The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree preferentially in biomedical, biochemical, biotechnological laboratory techniques.
  • Proven general lab skills and previous experience in working in an Industry environment is a plus
  • Experience in bacterial cell culture is an advantage but training will be provided where there is a skills gap
  • Proficiency in MS Office (excel, word, power point)
  • Accuracy in following instructions, record keeping and completion of reports
  • Team-oriented attitude, flexibility, ability to multi-task and to work independently
  • Strong sense of responsibility and eager to learn new concepts and techniques
  • Scientific integrity
